Ian Forbus – Owner and Trainer

Ian has been training dogs professionally for over 20 years. He is recommended by Veterinarians and other dog professionals throughout the Mooresville, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville and Charlotte area for his innate ability to understand dogs and their behaviors. He applies the necessary training techniques to best fit their needs with guaranteed results. Ian is also a trainer for the Mooresville Police Department K9 unit and their continuing education program.

Sara Forbus – Owner and Evaluator

Sara has been in the professional dog world for over 18 years. Starting as a Veterinary Technician at the age of 18, Sara earned a lot of experience in working with different breeds and evaluating dogs, their behaviors and temperaments.  Sara has a degree in Psychology and is a member of the Association of Pet Dog trainers and a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator for the American Kennel Club. Being able to relate to families with children, Sara really understands the training needs and goals for a family dog living with kids and is able to customize exactly what that family needs.  While Ian does the training, Sara does evaluations of family pets and office management. Together, they make a great team in helping people reach desired training goals for their dogs.








Shon – Trainer

Shon, a Carolina native, has been training dogs professionally for over 13 years. After spending time in the Navy, Shon went on to start his own successful pet sitting and dog walking business where he spent countless hours working with a variety of breeds. Shortly after, Shon realized that his passion was in training dogs and understanding how to curb their behaviors. Over the years, he has worked with numerous dogs all across the Lake Norman/Charlotte area. In his free time he enjoys camping with his son, Anderson.







Sylvia –Trainer

Sylvia has been training dogs for the past 7 years in Obedience, Service Dog Training and the sport of Rally.  She enjoys working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. Sylvia is passionate about building better relationships between dogs and owners through training. Sylvia is also certified with the CCPDT (Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers).  In her spare time, Sylvia enjoys spending time with her three year old daughter.





Taylor- Trainer

Taylor came to The Dog Pros from Tallahassee, FL with a degree from FSU.  Since dog training runs in his family, he decided to pursue a career with The Dog Pros.  Taylor enjoys training with dogs of all sizes and behavior problems. His analytical skills are an asset to The Dog Pros as problem solving is used daily in training to tackle behavior issues in dogs.








Gracie- Trainer Assistant

We first met Gracie when she brought her dogs to The Dog Pros for training. She realized that she really enjoyed working with her dogs through the training process and wanted to be more involved. This led her to a position with us at The Dog Pros. Her sweet and gentle personality is extremely helpful with the shy, fearful or nervous dogs. She is a great asset to the Trainers. 






David  – General Business Assistantme

David graduated from UNCW with a degree in Business Administration in 2009. Since then he has worked a variety of jobs from advertising to restaurant management. His love for dogs started at an early age when he found a stray and fearful pit bull whom he later took in. Over the years he’s worked with her throughout many hurdles in order to rehabilitate her into the loving dog she is.  David helps the business with marketing, design, Information technology and also caring for the dogs at the training facility.
