Ian Forbus – Owner and Trainer

Ian has been training dogs professionally for over 20 years. He is recommended by Veterinarians and other dog professionals throughout the Mooresville, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville and Charlotte area for his innate ability to understand dogs and their behaviors. He applies the necessary training techniques to best fit their needs with guaranteed results. Ian is also a trainer for the Mooresville Police Department K9 unit and their continuing education program.

Sara Forbus – Owner and Evaluator

Sara has been in the professional dog world for over 20 years. Starting as a Veterinary Technician at the age of 18, Sara earned a lot of experience in working with different breeds and evaluating dogs, their behaviors and temperaments.  Sara attended UNCC for Psychology and is a member of the Association of Pet Dog trainers and a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator for the American Kennel Club. Being able to relate to families with children, Sara really understands the training needs and goals for a family dog living with kids and is able to customize exactly what that family needs.  While Ian does the training, Sara does evaluations of family pets and office management. Together, they make a great team in helping people reach desired training goals for their dogs.





Sylvia –Trainer

Sylvia has been training dogs for the past 7 years in Obedience, Service Dog Training and the sport of Rally.  She enjoys working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. Sylvia is passionate about building better relationships between dogs and owners through training. Sylvia is also certified with the CCPDT (Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers).  In her spare time, Sylvia enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children.







Taylor- Trainer

Taylor came to The Dog Pros from Tallahassee, FL with a degree from FSU.  Since dog training runs in his family, he decided to pursue a career with The Dog Pros.  Taylor enjoys training with dogs of all sizes and behavior problems. His analytical skills are an asset to The Dog Pros as problem solving is used daily in training to tackle behavior issues in dogs.







Colt- Trainer

Colt has been deeply involved in studying dog behavior and various training methodologies since 2013. He has been heavily involved in Schutzhund, a dog sport where he competed at a national competition level with his personal dog and has worked as a helper at multiple regional and national level events since. Colt came back to work for The Dog Pros in 2019, but before that, Colt worked with us in 2015-2016 before moving to the New England area to further develop his sport dog training skills. Colt’s excellent experience in protection and obedience is an asset to The Dog Pros.













Gracie- Trainer Assistant

We first met Gracie when she brought her dogs to The Dog Pros for training. She realized that she really enjoyed working with her dogs through the training process and wanted to be more involved. This led her to a position with us at The Dog Pros. Her sweet and gentle personality is extremely helpful with the shy, fearful or nervous dogs. Gracie has experience with not only the nervous dogs, but also the aggressive ones. She has an ability to bond with dogs in a way that makes her extremely valuable to our team. 






Katelyn- Trainer Assistant

Katelyn started with The Dog pros in 2017 when she volunteered with us for her Senior project on Animal Behavior and Training. She was quick to learn and had great communication skills with clients and a natural ability with the dogs. We offered her a position with our team and she has been with us ever since!
